Saint Thomas' Episcopal School pipes and drums
pipeband in houston texas

A unique part of the heritage at STE is our world-renowned Scottish Arts department, which encompasses our Pipe Band and Highland dance program. Students participating in our Pipe Band receive instruction on the Great Highland bagpipe or Scottish snare, tenor, or bass drum.
Students may begin learning to play the bagpipes and drums in the fourth grade and progress through three levels of our Pipe Band: C, B, and A. Band members perform regularly at various campus events, such as our Parents’ Day Dance Celebration, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and graduation, as well as at community events.
Our A and B band members participate in the annual Salado Highland Games in Salado, Texas. Our A band also travels internationally to perform and compete in the World Pipe Band Championships.
SOUNDS OF SCOTLAND
With the only Scottish Arts program in all of Houston, it is only fitting that we showcase our students’ unparalleled talent on one of Houston’s most prestigious stages. Sounds of Scotland is an annual event typically held in March that features performances by all three of our bands, as well as our Highland dancers.
Request our Pipe Band to experience a performance from our band firsthand.
