Red Hackle Pipes and Drums is a Cleveland-area pipe band formed in 1997 by students of Pipe Major Alexander “Sandy” Hain. Hain served in the Royal Highland Regiment, the Black Watch, and became the regiment’s youngest Pipe Major at the time.
The band began as a competition group and first competed at the Ohio Scottish Games in 1997. Its members have since participated in competitions, parades, social events, and the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow.
The band wears Black Watch tartan, cap badges, and red hackle plumes in recognition of Hain’s military service and piping legacy. Visit the Red Hackle Pipes and Drums website for its history and current information.
