pipeband in nyc new york

The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, a nonprofit organization, is composed entirely of either retired, or active New York City Firefighters. Prior to 9/11/01, our main source of income was derived from performing at parades, special concerts, volunteer apparatus dedications, etc. However, since 9/11, because of our dedication in providing dignity to the member and their families at over 500 funerals and memorial dedications, the Band has grown increasingly popular among the Department, and with that popularity, it has almost doubled in size.
In the spirit of all our departed Brothers, both in the band and in the department, we will continue to dedicate ourselves and our music to them by proudly playing and marching to American, Irish and Scottish tunes and representing our Society and the FDNY.
We are proud of our Irish heritage, proud to be Americans, and proud to be members of the New York City Fire Department. As present members of the band we will carry on the tradition into the future, praying and hoping that our future Emeralds will carry on what was started by the Charter Members of 1962
The band has approximately 65 members and is growing.
