Community Pipe Band Founded in Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland.

The Isle of Cumbrae Pipe Band was founded in 1999 by Andy Bryan and members of the Millport branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland. Beginning with musicians from Millport, Largs, Fairlie, and elsewhere in North Ayrshire, it developed into a community band with adult and young players.
The band performed at community and remembrance events in Scotland and travelled to international gatherings. Its members wore the Isle of Cumbrae tartan and provided opportunities for young people and beginners to learn piping and drumming.
In November 2023, members voted to dissolve the band in its existing formal structure, with most members favoring a more casual format. Current activity published on the band’s Facebook page shows that its piping tradition has continued following that reorganization.
