College of Piping Pipe Band
Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada
The College of Piping in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, runs competitive pipe bands and a development band, giving piping and drumming students opportunities to perform together.
Based in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the College of Piping Pipe Band operates under the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada. Its Grade 3 and Grade 5 competitive bands are registered with the Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Association.
A development band helps students learn the fundamentals of ensemble playing. Members also perform in the College’s summer production, Highland Storm.
The band traces its roots to the Summerside Presbyterian Pipe Band, active from 1963 to 1969. It reformed as the Caledonian Pipe Band in 1986, affiliated with the College in 1990, and adopted the College of Piping name in 1993.
