After the British army had left Iserlohn and the popular bagpipe music could no longer be heard, a handful of positively crazy musicians founded the 1st Sauerland Pipes and Drums in 2000.
Over the years, both the number of musicians and their musical ability grew and the band became a welcome guest at many events, such as the Keltic Festival in Hohenlimburg (Hagen), the international music parade in Iserlohn, countless rifle festivals, Highland Games near Leipzig,
Tattoos (e.g. Marienburg/Hanover) the ZDF television garden or events commemorating the WWII in Nijmegen NL in cooperation with the Dutch and British armies.
