Gordon’s School Pipes and Drums is a 50-member school band based in West End, Surrey. The band reflects the ceremonial tradition of Gordon’s School, with its members wearing military-style uniform incorporating the Gordon tartan for parades and performances.
The school’s piping tradition began at Gordon’s Boys’ Home in Dover. After the home was bombed in 1941, its six-member pipe band relocated to West End and developed into the larger band active today.
Gordon’s School Pipes and Drums performs at school parades, remembrance services, civic occasions, festivals, and competitions. Its appearances have included Westminster Abbey, the Lord Mayor’s Show, Windsor Castle, the World Pipe Band Championships, the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships, and the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate.
The school also maintains a partnership with the National Piping Centre supporting scholarship tuition, examinations, masterclasses, and performance opportunities for its young pipers.
