The London Police Pipes and Drums (LPP&D) consists of serving and retired members of the London Police Service and citizens of the community representing a variety of occupations and pastimes.

Active police officers, retired police officers, and civilians of the band advance and maintain the traditions of pride and respect for Highland bagpipe music.

Check out these pipes! If you are a history buff with a love for music, join LPP&D today.

The LPP&D is currently recruiting new pipers and drummers from beginner to experienced levels.

Joining the band is a great opportunity for camaraderie, community connection and the chance to perform at various community events in the London area. Practice is held twice a week at the London Police Headquarters. Beginner or experienced players are welcome to sharpen their skills or learn from scratch. Lessons are free.

Requirements

  • All members must be a minimum 16 years of age
  • All members must be willing to undergo a background check
  • All members will need to purchase their own practice chanter
  • All members will need to purchase their own piping “how to” manual

History

The LPP&D band started in 1967 as part of the Centennial project and became known as the London Police Pipes and Drums in 1991.

Dress

The band wears the MacGregor tartan in honour of Peter MacGregor who was the first settler at the forks of the Thames River.
