The Act of Uniformity (1662), primarily known for enforcing the use of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, also confirmed several key political-religious anniversaries to be observed annually:
- 5 November — Guy Fawkes Day, commemorating the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot (1605)
- 30 January — The execution of King Charles I in 1649
- 29 May — The Restoration of the monarchy in 1660 with Charles II’s return
These dates became part of the official religious and civic calendar in England and, by extension, in Ireland (then under British rule), reinforcing loyalty to the Crown and the Church of England.
