David Rizzio, Italian singer, murdered by Ruthven in the Palace of Holyrood

David Rizzio (c. 1533 – 9 March 1566) or Riccio was an Italian courtier, born in Pancalieri close to Turin, a descendant of an ancient and noble family still living in Piedmont, the Riccio Counts di San Paolo e Solbrito, who rose to become the private secretary of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Thomas Reynolds, United Irishman, born

Thomas Reynolds, born in 1771, was a figure in Irish history known for his complex role during the period leading up to and including the Irish Rebellion of 1798. He was initially a member of the Society of United Irishmen, an organization that sought to remove British control from Ireland and promote the ideals of republican democracy, inspired by the American and French Revolutions.

General John O'Neill, Irish Fenian leader, is born

John Charles O’Neill (9 March 1834 – 8 January 1878) was an Irish-born officer in the American Civil War and member of the Fenian Brotherhood. O’Neill is best known for his activities leading the Fenian raids on Canada in 1866 and 1871.
