The first moving image ever transmitted to a television screen is successfully demonstrated by John Logie Baird in his London workshop. On this day, Baird transmits the image of a 15-year-old office boy, William Taynton, marking a historic breakthrough in television technology.

This experiment, using a mechanical scanning system, represents the first successful demonstration of live moving television and lays the groundwork for modern broadcasting. Taynton becomes the first person to appear in a televised moving image, although he was reportedly hesitant to sit still under the intense light needed for the equipment.

Baird’s achievement would soon lead to public demonstrations, making him one of the pioneers of television worldwide.
