George Younger, 1st Viscount Younger of Leckie, is born on September 22, 1931. A prominent Scottish politician, he serves in several senior roles within the UK Conservative Party, including as Secretary of State for Scotland, Minister of State for Defence, and later Secretary of State for Defence during the 1980s under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. After retiring from frontline politics, Younger becomes Chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland plc, bringing his leadership skills to the financial sector. He is elevated to the peerage in 1992 as Viscount Younger of Leckie.
