Richard Todd, acclaimed actor, is born in Dublin on June 11, 1919. He rises to prominence for his role in The Hasty Heart (1949), which earns him the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1950, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Known for his dignified screen presence, Todd would go on to star in numerous war and historical films, including The Dam Busters and The Longest Day, becoming one of Britain’s most popular film actors of the 1950s.
