Blue began learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipes at six from his father, Pipe Major David M. Blue, a gold medallist, and later from the world famous Pipe Major Donald Shaw Ramsay, BEM (late of the 10th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, the back-to-back world champion City of Edinburgh Police Pipe Band and the world renowned InverGordon Distillery Pipe Band). He has gone on to play for All-Scotland Highland Dance Champions; HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York; on tour with The Chieftains and as Pipe Major of Snoopy's Own Pipe Band.
