Desert Skye Pipes and Drums

Down in the dry heat of Las Vegas. Only 2 years old, and striving to compete Grade IV.
Desert Skye was originally Clark County Celts and was created by Fred Marshe, Tony Bakerink, and Mason McNinch III back in the early part of 1999. At that time, Fred had one student (Liz Lenox), and one bass drummer (Bonnie Marshe). A few months later, Daniel Packer joined. Due to personal reasons, Mason had left the band, and the Marshe's moved to Florida. All that remained was Tony Bakerink, Liz Lenox, and Daniel Packer. They decided to stick it out, and in December of 1999, they created Desert Skye Pipes and Drums. They had their first elections with Daniel Packer as President and Pipe Major, and Tony Bakerink as Vice President and Drum Sergeant. 2003 Desert Skye has teamed up with the Misty Isle Pipe Band from Torrance California. We did this in order to get the experience of band competitions. At the Queen Mary Games in February, the Desert Skye Pipe corp took 3rd place out of 9 bands. Overall we came at 6th. Our competitors have been playing for at least 6 years, if not longer. Desert Skye has now started down the road of band competitions. We have tasted it, and now we have the hunger! We have also enlisted the help of Anthony Parrulli, one of the Blue Men to help with our Drum Corp. 2002 We started outfitting our band in the new Nevada State Tartan. Dennis Nolan, Lauren Poleski, and Graham Gunnion joined our band. 2001 We joined the Western United States Pipe Band Association (WUSPBA) Andy Fusco, Todd Marhold, Eric Poleski, Josh Underwood, Colin Campbell, and Mark Rosenberger have joined our band! 2000 During the year 2000, Desert Skye had many new members George McLendon, Bryce Parker, Briana Parker, Mason McNinch (He's back!), Brian Harisay, George McKenna, and Mike Lenox.
