The Adirondack Pipes and Drums is committed to promoting interest in traditional Scottish Bagpipe and Drum Music.
The Adirondack Pipes and Drums [roster] is a Parade and Competition Band under the direction of Pipe Major Dr. Harold Kirkpatrick. The band was formed in September of 1949 in Fort Edward, N.Y. to promote and preserve Scottish music and traditions in the region and to pay tribute to the Highland Regiments that served in the area during the French and Indian Wars. In 1950, the band adopted the traditional tartan of the Black Watch with pipers wearing the Royal Stewart tartan and drummers the darker Black Watch tartan. The Adirondack Pipes and Drums plays in parades, Scottish festivals and games, and other celebrations and special events throughout the Northeast. The band continues to promote traditional bagpipe music by offering instruction to students of all ages.
