Sir James McDonald Pipe Band

Oregon's only youth pipe band for boys and girls age 8 to 18. The Sir James McDonald Pipe Band of Portland, Oregon, shown here competing at the Portland Highland Games in July of 2005. The band program's commitment to excellence is reflected by consistent placement at the top of the band's grade in contests up and down the west coast of North America, and Scotland. The band won third place honors in the juvenile category at the 2003 World Pipe Band Championships on August 16 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Sir James McDonald Pipe Band won prizes at both of the other bagpipe band competitions they entered in Scotland as well, taking first place at the North Berwick Highland Games and fourth place at the Perth Highland Games. The band is a tax-exempt organization committed to fostering a lifelong appreciation of pipe band music in young people. The band appears frequently at community, corporate and private events throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Among highlights of the past year have been featured performances at the Portland Highland Games, various community parades, school music and cultural diversity programs and selected benefit events.
