Heritage Pipes and Drums

HPD was founded more than thirty years ago by the late Pipe Major Emeritus Ian Sturrock, the first piper in the state of Alabama. As a cultural unit organized as a part of Trinity Presbyterian Church (3formerly Reformed Heritage Presbyterian Church) and Heritage Academy of Birmingham, Alabama, HPD functions not only as a parade and performance bagpipe band, but also as a teaching institution for Scottish piping and drumming. HPD is under the direction of Pipe Major Ryan Morrison, Assistant Pipe Major Kathleen Ryan, Pipe Corporal Glenn Creamer, Drum Sergeant Ben Smolin, and Drum Corporal Kyra Key.
