Detail:

The band was formed in 1993 with a donation from the custodians of the Bankstown Caledonian Pipe Band. Their donation of some old drums and uniforms was graciously received, and put to good use. Bankstown Caledonian had been inactive for a long time and hoped that their donation would help the newly formed Bankstown City Pipes & Drums. We initially were know as the Bankstown City Pipes and Drums. With a lot of hard work, and some very generous people, the City of Bankstown R and SL Community Club adopted us in 1994. Since our inception we have grown in numbers and have had numerous success in contests, including two Australian Championship Titles. This has been made possible not only by the drive and dedication of our members, but also by the undying support of our supporters group. Without our supporters base, would could not have achieved our goals. During our development, we have had enormous support from Mr Bill Durham of Ceol Mor Reeds. Bill and our PM Glen Muller worked to produce our unique tonal qualities. In 1998, we were also very fortunate to receive a major endorsement from Billy Hydes Drumcraft. The band is very proud of their Pearl drum line. We practice on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Bankstown R and SL Community Club, in Kitchener Parade, Bankstown. The hours are between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
