Greater Richmond Pipes and Drums

The Greater Richmond Pipes and Drums was formed in 1998.
GRPD has quickly grown to become the largest bagpipe band in Central Virginia. We now comprise over 40 bagpipers and drummers from throughout the Greater Richmond area. At full complement, the band can field 16 performance-level pipers and 12-15 performance-level drummers. GRPD plays up to 20 performances each year, including parades, ceremonial occasions and competitions across the Mid-Atlantic region. The Greater Richmond Pipes & Drums is a member of the Eastern United States Pipe (Bagpipe) Band Association (EUSPBA), which extends from Maine to Texas, and is one of the largest bagpipe band associations in the world. The band currently competes at the Grade IV level, and has finished within the top 3 of all competitions during the 2005 season, including a first place in the Eastern United States Championship at Fair Hill, MD. Come hear the band at regular rehearsals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 (Beginners & Performance Band) and 6:30 (Competition Band) at our current practice location.
