Fire Brigade Pipes and Drums of Greater Baltimore, Ltd.

We are a Fire Department Pipe Band consisting of Firefighters and their family members.
We are located in Maryland in the Greater Baltimore Area and with members from the surrounding counties. Our mission is to represent the pride and sacrifice of the Fire Service and to celebrate its heritage. We have played at many Fire Department functions but are available to the general public for other events such as parades, funerals, weddings etc. As with many pipe bands the idea to start a bagpipe band for our fire department was fostered in 2001 when members of the band attended the funerals of our fallen brothers after 9/11. It was thought that the firefighters in our department should also have a pipe band to honor our fallen firefighters. So in January 2004 a group of firemen got together at the Westview Fire Station to discuss putting together a fire Department pipe band to represent the pride and sacrifice of the fire service and to celebrate its heritage. In February 2004 the band consisting primarily of firefighters, and firefighters family members was formed. On April 19, 2004 the band was granted non-profit status under section 501 (c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to represent the pride and sacrifice of the Fire Service and to celebrate its heritage. We have had the pleasure to perform at several venues, including Memorial Services for the Glyndon VFD, Baltimore County Fire Service and the Carroll County Volunteer Fireman’s Association. In addition we have played in many Fallen Heroes ceremonies. We have also done a retirement party for a Baltimore City Battalion Chief and Firefighter, the Baltimore City Fire Expo parade and Fourth of July parades. In 2004 we had the solemn duty to perform at the funeral of Paramedic Connie Bornman, of the Middle River Volunteer Ambulance & Rescue Company who lost her life in the line of duty. When we started the band it was decided that we would accept firefighters and their immediate family members from the greater Baltimore area, both career and volunteer. We now have members from Baltimore County and City, Anne Arundel County, Howard County and Carroll County. We now currently have 11 pipers, 6 drummers, 5 student pipers and 2 student drummers. We accept members with or with out experience. You only need to be a Firefighter, Paramedic or EMT paid or volunteer or family member and be willing to practice.
