The Indianapolis Celtic Cross Pipeband is achieving a high standard of excellence in traditional art. This is done as an independent pipeband without grants or corporate sponsors. We also compete as individual pipers/drummers and as a band in various EUSPBA and MWPBA competitions throughout the Great Lakes region. We are also available to YOU for your special events. History: The Indianapolis Celtic Cross Pipeband was founded in November of 1980 and was known then as the Clan Na Gael Pipeband. The tartan worn is Ancient Hay. The following details some of the highlights of the history of the band. In 1984 the band started competing and immediately began winning in Grade IV and Grade III competitions in Chicago IL, Carrollton KY, Gatlinburg TN, Glasgow KY, Oberlin OH, and Nashville TN. On July 20, 1985 the band became known as the Scottish Society of Indianapolis Pipeband. In 1987 Roderick (Roddy Jr.) D. MacDonald became Pipe Major. In August of 1990 the band presented an evening of piping, dancing, story, and song at the Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie, IN. The 1991 competition schedule took the band to Batesville, AR. In February of 1995 the band became known as the Indianapolis Celtic Cross Pipeband, and in August of 1999, John Noble became Pipe Major. Members of the band have also competed individually with success throughout the United States, Canada, and Scotland.
