The making of a kilt
Sewing a kilt is not difficult, but not recommended as a first project.
This text has been written in response to many requests for advice and help from friends and acquaintances I have made in Scottish Country Dancing, and especially the many pupils of my classes at Oak Farm Centre, Farnborough, who have taken, with enthusiasm, to the Scottish tradition. It is designed to enable the competent amateur needlewoman (2or should I say needleperson) to make a dancing KILT. I say competent amateur advisedly - if you cannot sew on a button you will never make a kilt either - with or without this book, but anyone who is reasonably handy with a needle and thread can make a kilt. It isn't difficult - laborious maybe, but not difficult. A sewing machine is helpful, but not a necessity, most of the sewing is handwork anyway. The hardest part is making a start. Having made a start this little booklet will, if you use it properly, answer all your questions and show you, step by step, how to proceed and where the pitfalls lie. Good luck!
