Detail:
All Dave's pipes are made in traditional hardwoods, typically African Blackwood and Boxwood, although other woods may be used if suitable. All have hand forged brass keys and brass fittings, with imitation ivory trims. All keywork is fitted with superbly balanced springing and each set is skillfully tuned to suit the characteristics of the instrument. Aftercare service is available and all parts can be purchased individually, with quotes available for reeds, repairs and fettling on request. Dave makes sets in F, G and D, primarily in Blackwood or Boxwood. Detailed catalogue available. He will sometimes repair and refurbish pipes (subject to workload) and usually has simple, keyless F sets available for hire. He has been making Northumbrian Smallpipes professionally for more than 20 years and these constitute about half his business. He also makes Scottish smallpipes and Shuttle pipes in D, C, Bb and A as well as Practice / half sets / full sets of Irish pipes and SHAW whistles. He is accepting orders and waiting time is about 12 months, but possibly shorter for standard shuttle sets, please ask. 20% deposit is taken with the balance payable before delivery. Northumbrian Smallpipes prices include cases but not delivery. He supplies chanter reeds (18 each) and drone reeds with metal bodies and cane tongues (small drones) or wooden bodies and cane tongues (larger drones) £12 each.
