This is me, Pipe Major Robert R. Pinkman giving my bagpipes a little blow. If you are serious about learning then, I can teach you to play just like this. Anyone, anywhere can learn. My tuition programme is also used by partially sited people with great success. The only equipment you need to start learning is a practice chanter and a tuition programme. On the left are two examples of practice chanters. Perhaps you already know this, perhaps you don’t but, you do not learn to play bagpipes on the bagpipes! Everyone, in the past and present have learned on a practice chanter. This is how it is done. You will learn all the fingering techniques needed to play properly. Please don’t start thinking that you won’t need to learn everything because you only want to play for your own enjoyment. Believe me, if you do not learn everything, you will regret it! It will take the same time and effort to learn properly as it will if you want to take short cuts. The only difference will be, if you follow the complete programme you WILL play correctly. Other pipers will admire you and will listen to you play. If you do not play correctly you leave yourself open to unwelcome advice and, perhaps ridicule. It is not difficult to learn but it does take some time and effort to master everything required.
