Our History

A blend of veteran and younger pipers and drummers were drawn together to form a band by a common bond of respect and love for their music, in late summer of 2009

Favoring the Irish and Irish-American musical tradition, the band attempts to promote and honor piping and drumming that gives voice to this. Currently consisting of 14 pipers and 8 drummers, plus colors, the Band is growing and determined to flourish.

The Sons and Daughters of Erin Pipe Band came to be thanks to one man's determination to honor his native land and its music. David Curran, better known as "Davey," a native of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, worked to form the nucleus of the Band, and invited others to join. Those of us who accepted the invitation are very much enjoying the experience, and hope our efforts are a credit to piping and drumming, and reflect favorably on our heritage and musical traditions.

Join Us !!!

To support our goal of "keeping the tradition alive," The Sons and Daughters of Erin Pipe Band welcomes inquiries from pipers and drummers who may wish to join our pipe or drum corps. No experience is needed as we welcome everyone from beginners to experienced pipers and drummers. Our primary emphasis is on public and private performances, and we do not participate in competition piping.

We are grateful to The Albany Ancient Order of Hibernians for the generous use of their Hall at 375 Ontario St, Albany NY 12208, where we have a full band practice every Thursday evening at 6:00PM as well as a chanter only practice on Monday evenings, also at 6:00PM.
