Experience Quality - Experience Piper For All Occasions! Nick Tomkins started to learn the bagpipes in 2005 at The SCOTS PGC College when Band Master Sandy Dalziel moved from Scotland. In 2009 Nick was promoted to Pipe Sergeant. During this time the band travelled to the NZ Pipe Band Championships placing 1st in piping for the Musical Selection element and also became Grade 4 Queensland Champions. With lots of hard work, in 2010 Nick was promoted to Pipe Major. During this time the band competed at the Australian Chamionships winning the overall piping in the Grade 4 competition.
In 2011, Nick moved to Robina on the Gold Coast to attend Bond University studying B Law/ B Commerce. Nick's current tutor is the world renowned Malcolm MacRae who is a former Gold Medalist (World Solo Champion) and regarded as one of the best judges and tutors in the world. Nick has also moved to St Andrew's Pipe Band Brisbane where he has competed with the band when winning the Grade 2 Queensland Championships. In 2011, Nick won the overall Queensland Intermediate Champion at the Ipswich Gathering of the Clans.
Nick commonly plays at ANZAC and Rememberance Day ceremonies, nursing homes, parades, as well as weddings, funerals, birthdays, anniversaries and special functions. Recently, Nick also played with Australian renowned guitarist Lorin Nicholson and in the Ipswich International Tattoo.
