|48th Highlanders of Holland Pipes and Drums|
The 48th Highlanders of Holland Pipes and Drums was set up on 15th January 1991.
A number of local enthousiasts took the initiative to found a living monument. A memorial because they wanted to do something in return for those who liberated Apeldoorn and its surrounding area.
Early in April 1945 this region was liberated by the Canadian Army where the major role was played by the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
This regiment had its own pipe band. The members of the band also took part in the action.
Many of them were killed here, they gave their lives for our freedom Every year Canadian veterans still come to Holland, to this area to remember and to honour those who died. Because we value our freedom we must never - and don't want to - forget, our motto:
"We do remember"
They may and will not be forgotten...
