Visit the home page of the Stockbridge Pipeband, a Grade 4a community Pipeband located in central Edinburgh, and browse through our history, tune lists and latest news. Stockbridge Pipe Band is a relative newcomer to the pipe band world, and was formed in 1994 by a handful of pipers wishing to gain experience playing together. Since then the band has grown substantially and is now registered with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in Grade 4b.
The Band is currently under the direction of Pipe Major Euan Whitmore and Drum Sergeant Craig McGuire. Our primary goals are:
to encourage the appreciation of Scottish music both locally and internationally to provide a community focus and an opportunity for social interaction for all ages to provide instruction to all ages in piping and drumming to encourage the continued development of the Stockbridge Pipe Band, both musically and as an established organisation within Stockbridge
To help achieve these goals, we compete and participate in many events throughout Edinburgh and the surrounding area including:
Local and major Pipe Band competitions
Performances at corporate and hospitality events throughout Scotland
Parades through Edinburgh city centre: Easter Cavalcade, St Andrew’s Day
Gala Day parades throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians
Ceilidhs, Burns Suppers, Weddings, Parties
Pre-match entertainment at Murrayfield for international rugby fixtures
Charity events such as Cancer Research’s ‘Relay for Life’ and Marie Curie’s Pipefest
We also regularly travel abroad and have appeared at the following festivals:
2005 7th International Arts Festival, Shanghai, & West Lake Carnival, Hangzhou, China
2005 40th International Folk Festival, Susa, Italy
2005 60th Flowering of the Almond Festival, Agriento, Sicily, Italy
2003 Circoscrizioni in Folclore Festival, Treviso, Italy

We are continually searching for musicians who have experience of playing at Grade 4 level and wish to participate in the Band’s varied activities throughout the year. In addition, we are also able to provide tuition in both piping and drumming for beginners of all ages and abilities. The band practises on Monday nights at Flora Stevenson’s Primary School in Comely Bank and on Thursday nights at St Vincent’s Chapel, St Stephen Street, Stockbridge. Click here for a location map.
