Inverurie Pipe Band is based in, a country town some 16 miles north west of Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland. It was formed in 1957 as a Town Band to take part in local events and to help to encourage tourism (See ). Although its activities take The Band wears the Ancient Leslie tartan, as displayed in the background of this page, in recognition of the lands once held by the Leslie family to the NW of Bennachie around Leslie Castle, Leslie and Old Leslie villages.
Aspiring musicians should not take too literally the Leslie motto GRIP FAST on the crest used as a cap badge!
The Band meets for practice in Inverurie Academy on Monday and Thursday evenings between 7pm and 9pm. Monday is notionally assigned to beginners, and Thursday to the playing band, but both groups attend on each night.
