The Guelph Pipe Band was founded in 1922, and in 2002 celebrated 80 years of continuous activity.
The band is currently under the leadership of Pipe Major K. Bruce MacDonald, with a roster of over 30 playing pipers and drummers. There are also a number of piping and drumming students under the tutelage of Bruce MacDonald (piping), and Larry Willis and Steve Harris (drumming).
Guelph's Grade IV band was the winner of the coveted PPBSO Champion Supreme award in 2003. For the 2006 competition season, Guelph will be fielding both a Grade IV and a Grade V band.
The band meets every Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 234, located at 919 York Road in Guelph, Ontario. The competition bands also practice every Sunday at the Legion. New members and visitors are welcome. -
