we all know that paki pipes have a bad rep, why, simple, poor choice of wood, non seasoned wood, not to menttion poor bags and the list goes on,but i have found that some of those companies in pakistan are making a turn around.i recently ordered a set of rosewoods to poke around on,upon inspection the bores were smooth in the drones, nothing blocking them up,chanter sounded pretty decent but im still going to change it,bag was pretty well done, sealed it and its air tight, swapped the crappy cane reeds in it with some wygent cane reeds.popped in a duncan soutar chanter reed and off i went, overall i was pleased with the set.i have found that they have started to make a turn around in their craftmanship.i also recently spoke with a paki pipe maker, not with the hakim din company.he advised me that his company has been using well seasoned wood and does suggest the abw of which he says is actual abw and not ebony.his company will also customize the pipes to whatever specs you want.so if you have any measurements for an old antique set theyll make the pipes with the bore measurements that you want same as engraving i believe.next i will be ordering an abw set from them to see fi his company sticks to their word..i would also like to add, there are many pipers from many walks of life and different classes,a question id like to ask is ,if a man wanted to learn to play the pipes and could get a decent pract. chanter and take lessons,as many are free if you know where to find them, but all he could afford is a set of paki pipes, would you scorn him as you have done with the pipes or congratulate him and welcome him to the ranks of piping? i know id welcome the guy and shake his hand.

I don't know how much money you are saving by buying Paki Bagpipes but as the old saying goes, "buy cheap, buy twice".
I would suggest to any piping student to stick with well established pipe maker who manufactures highly rated bagpipes and buy what they can afford. The lowest price that one can find for a set of basic bagpipes made from African Blackwood, properly setup is around $1200.
Any student that wishes to learn and buy pipes, could save $100 a month for 12 months while they are learning on the practice chanter.
A student could make in known that they are saving up for a set of pipes and that any birthday gifts, holiday presents, or any other gifts could be given as cash that would go towards a set of pipes.
Add extra money from working extra jobs, savings, etc you could possibly bring you up to at least $2,000, enough for a set of Bagpipes with Sterling Silver on them !
I bought my first set of bagpipes in 1988 while on a trip to Scotland just to by my pipes. The set I eventually bought were an affordable "basic" (african black wood/imitation ivory mounts/nickel ferrules) from a pipe maker located on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
Years later I eventually upgraded my original with something with silver on them. I choose a set of David Naill's, model DN4-A (african black wood/plain sterling silver ring end caps and ferrules). The set of Naill's were almost 3x's the original price I paid for my first set 11 years previous.
The Naill's were a night and day difference in weight, tone, warmth, and looks. Both bagpipes were made of seasoned african black wood and both make in Scotland. However I enjoy playing the Naill's 10 times more then my original set.
If I had to do it over again, I would have purchased the Naill's in the first place and save some money. The Naill's are a set of pipes that I will hand down to my son, where as my original set are destined as a set of bar pipes, to be played in the rain, or throw in the back of my trunk in case of ...
Save your money, buy the best bagpipes you can afford, and you will not regret it.

I have a piece of adware on my computer that I obviously wish to get rid of (it slows down my computer... -.-). Avira Free Version is a perfectly fine antivirus program, but apparently it does not have this (insert obscene adjective here) adware on its detection list. I looked into this adware a bit more and found that AVG should have it on its detection list, which would mean a :D for me and a :( for the adware... elimation of the adware in other words. There are several problems with this idea, though. 1. I am not sure about this, but I believe I read somewhere that having multiple AVs (AntiVirus) may cause confliction between programs... is this true? (read titular question for the specifics) 2. Supposing that the above question were answered with a "Yes", I would have to remove Avira. I have also read that this action is difficult to fully complete... is this true and if so, how would I go about screwing the adware (FYI it is called WhenU SaveNow, and it is despicable in my personal opinion)? 3. Should someone else incidentally have this (virus? adware? program?)... thing... and have successfully removed it, could you answer back with your solution? Notes about the *censor*ing software... I am aware that you (ahem) should (ahem) be able to remove the "thing" (I refuse to name it except in an above example) in Windows' Add/Remove Programs panel. It is not a part of the list of removable items, so I assume it must have latched onto a download (silly brother >:O). Because my computer is second-hand, it has a variety of rather shifty programs (in my paranoid opinion). Flock I think is decent, Limewire... not so decent, my idiot brother's downloads off Limewire... VERY untrustworthy. However, the adware might have been present before that bozo downloaded Limewire, so I can't fix the blame on Limewire. Also, this adware updates itself and seems to "read" the content on the web pages I browse and display related content... fortunately, it does not understand Mandarin. The adware PHAILS (phails, fails, same thing) in that it displays its unconvincingly poor "Click me" (the "click me" idea is displayed in many ways...) ideas in Internet Explorer while I browse in Mozilla Firefox -.- Any solution would be welcome.

It is going to bring prosperity. Think about it. Gas is much cheaper than oil. India with huge energy demands would be able to handle future oil prices much better. Since pipeline would be coming from Pakistan, so it would much to generate better understanding between India and Pakistan. Also Pakistan unlike India can,t bear to pay curren price of oil and is going through severe evergy crisis. So it would also benefit. While Iran would be the biggest profiteer. IT has huge gas reserves and there is,nt anything better than trading with your neighbours. About US, well they can chew it out. US had already created trouble in Baluchistan, Pakistan. But regional countries have to look after their iwn benefits instead of following the US line.

You know, if you visit Charlie Kron's shop in the USA, and purport to know lots about which bagpipes are made in Palistan and which are not, he'll show you some pipes and let you decisde where they came from - he may even let you play a few - he has a set made in India (before there was a Pakistan) that you would not know was Pakistani. So not all Pakistani made pipes were bad - only the bad ones were. I have to admit that most of the rubbish produced now and advertised on e-bay are bad ones.
