Hi all,

Im a newbie here to the site and piping. I want to learn how to play the bagpipe and was told to get a chanter. My question is what chanter would you recommend? I have been looking at the Gibson practice chanter kits along with the Warmac kit. Can anybody tell me if these would be a good starting point? Or perhaps i could buy a used chanter from a piper?. The only reason i would want a new one is for the green book and cd....any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I would suggest a plastic chanter for beginners. Make sure the chanter is a full size/long chanter and not a short/child's chanter.

There are many manufacture's of chanters, such as Naill, Shepherd, Hardie, Dunbar, Gibson, Cron, etc

Stick with brand name chanters. Visit Bagpiper.Com for business links.
