hi again, i have been trying to find a local pipe band or school that i can join to learn the pipes but am having no luck as yet, the only local one near me only takes grade 1 pipers, and even though i have tried emailing them , they haven't got back in touch, i am learning the chanter on my own and think it would be better with other people like me to learn together, i live near airdrie , north lanarkshire scotland , can anyone give me a link or name of a band's website i can contact for more info, thanks again. regards john

Hi John,
The reason nobody got back to you is because the World Championships just concluded last week and most bands were really busy leading up to the event.
I got some real good news, the National Piping Centre (http://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/) is only 20KM away. I envy how close you are. You have the ability to learn from the best in the business.
Stop by and visit the instructors (http://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/tuition/) there, they can get you started until you find a band. They offer hourly, weekly lessons and workshops.
An individual Lesson will be £19 or £16(u 16), a book of 10 lessons will be £180/£150,an Intensive course will be now priced at £260/£230 and a non-residential seasonal school will now cost £170/£150.
Good Luck !
