I just got my hands on my new pipes after getting back from Iraq....and need some help. Have been able to get the drones tuned, that was easy. The chanter reed though is being a major bear! It takes way too much pressure to get any sound off of it, scraping the sides and tweaking the opening a lil isnt working either...yet. In dire need of some advice or know where I can get a synthetic reed for other that just a practice chanter.

Chris Apps know a lot about tweaking a reed. I have also found this site to be helpful.

This is a big file with a lot of good info on all types of reeds. Just go slow and check the adjustment you have made before going further. Try not to do things that can't be undone.
