Does anyone know where I could find some samples of different pipes that I could use to compare?
Naill pipes in particular.
R.G. Hardie (http://www.rghardie.co.uk/music.html)has them right there on the web site, but it's very difficult to find anyone else's.
Thanks.

Hello,
Are you trying to compare chanters to decide which one sounds better ?
The problem with this is that there are too many variables that would not allow you to make a fair comparison online such as:
How was the recording made ?
Was the sound file compressed ?
Is the chanter plastic or wood ?
How old is the chanter ?
Has the chanter been modified ?A Naill chanter made twenty years ago probably sounds a bit different then one made last year.
My suggestion is to visit a local dealer that carries the chanter(s) you wish to purchase. Unfortunately this is sometimes difficult to do due to living near a local bagpipe shop (LBS). I have heard some retailers will mail you 2 or 3 chanters to test. You can select one and send the others back.
