When the bride requests music suggestions for the processional and recessional, I usually suggest either the following 2/4 marches:
"The March of the Campbell's"
"Sweet Maid of Glendural"
Other tunes that I will suggest are traditional tunes such as:
"Scotland the Brave"
"Blue Bells of Scotland"
For Processionals it's pretty hard to beat "Highland Cathedral" with pipes and organ. I also play a "little known" tune, "Highland Processional" also with pipes and organ. It was written by Jay Dawson of Nashville, TN. Beautiful tune.
For Recessionals, I use "Ode to Joy", "Simple Gifts" and the occasional "Scotland the Brave" all with organ.

Your are right about Highland Cathedral, I am just putting that into my tune list now. I haven't played it before because most couples do not request it.
Another reason is because the majority of the time I never play the processional or the recessional. I usually perform before and after the ceremony since most churches do not like the pipes played inside the church.
I play Ode to Joy on the tin whistle but I have never heard "Simple Gifts" before, I will look that up.
Thanks

I recommend Highland Cathedral and use it a lot. Just got a request to play Garryowen for a recessional.

Where can we find Mr. Dawson's Highland Processional?
